How Frequent Do You Add a New Post?

It’s probably the most asked question among bloggers, because it’s brought up in every conversation about blogging. So, … how frequent do you add a new post on your blog?
It’s a very good question that needs a bit more clarification. This post on the gonzoblog.nl will not tell you how many times you should post, because every blogger’s situation is different. So therefor I hope this post will guide you in making this decision for yourself.
The Rumours
There are some bloggers out there who say you should post everyday. Your blogging site will stay fresh, having new content daily. Search engines will find your blogging site faster and new visitors are bound to come to a blogging site with many articles (a good resource blog).
Other bloggers say you shouldn’t post daily, because it’s impossible to publish a post every day and still have quality content. It’s better to choose for quality than for quantity! And also because of the fact your readers won’t be able to keep up with seven posts a week. So, … what’s the truth?
The ‘Naked’ Truth
The only real truth in this is that it’s up to you, … yes, you! You and your readers have a say in how frequent you should publish an article. Why? What does work for an other blog, does not need to work for your blog. So you really should make this decision for yourself.
Do keep your readers in mind in your decision. Ask yourself the following questions: “Do my readers have the time to read my articles on a daily basis?” or “Will they not get an overload with information?”. If the frequency of your writing is ’too much’ for your readers, then all the following posts will become less interesting to your readers.
Remember: by posting less often you can select the best ideas for new posts.
Also, be true to yourself and know your limitations. If you don’t have the time to post every day, then don’t do it. In the long run this could influence the quality of your writing. Try writing keyword-rich, shorter articles that still provide resource-value to your readers. Quantity over quality never wins. Figure out how much you can write, publish and still continue having quality content.
My Personal Opinion
I’m a true believer in posting quality over quantity and that daily publishing is an overload for myself and my readers. Also I can say for myself that I don’t read articles seven days a week, there’s more in life than just that! I rather publish once a week a well polished, keyword-rich quality article.
Get on with it …
Now that you’ve made the decision for yourself, get on with it. This doesn’t mean actually that you should stop testing how frequent you should post. Continue to adapt your blogging site to your readers and to your own personal situation. How to do so?
In my experience a good way is to follow a kind of time-table. Put in your agenda when you’re going to write and publish content. A time-table will really help you get things done and making your blog run like a well-oiled machine.
This also does a lot for your readers. They’ll recognize the posting time-table of your blog, knowing more or less when to come back for new content.

As a graphic web designer , I’m extremely glad to see that someone thought to post this topic.

Everybody is entitled to blog his/her own way, but with a full-time job as father and designer (gonzodesign.nl) I don’t have always that much time.

You’re certainly welcome to use anything you like just as long as you don’t copy any more than 25% of a given article onto your site.
I only say that because if you do, then Google sees it as “Duplicate Content” and then we will both be listed lower on their search engine listings.
So if you translate this in Russian, I’ve got no problem at all with it, knock youself out, lol! Would be nice if you could link back to the genuine article, not necessary, but would be very nice!
