Boost Your Twitter Profile Page Rank

Savvy marketers are capitalizing on the Twitter craze by using this social networking site to market their websites, products, and services. In addition to helping marketers reach a vast new audience of targeted web traffic, a Twitter account can also be used to aid in search engine optimization efforts.

Even though the links posted on Twitter have “no-follow” language attached, which make them useless for boosting a site’s page rank, the Twitter profile itself can still rank highly in the search engines. In fact, because Twitter has so much clout with Google and Yahoo!, marketers can make their Twitter profiles appear at the top of the search engine results page for highly competitive keywords (especially long-tail key phrases) more easily than their websites.

Having your Twitter profile rank highly in the search engines for target keywords and key phrases is almost as beneficial as having the site itself appear. Just be sure to display your web site’s URL prominently on the profile, so that search engine visitors will know where to go to get more information.

Tip for Boosting Your Twitter Profile Page Rank:

• Keyword optimize your page description for your target keywords. Use these keywords as early as possible in your description.
• Use your keywords in your Tweets.
• Post articles on article syndication sites with an anchor text link to your Twitter profile to create powerful inbound links that will boost your profile’s page rank.
• Attract more followers. Having lots of followers makes you appear popular with users, which will boost the profile’s page rank.
